Description
Product Specifications

The bolder Malgudi — the 53/47 blend uses more chicory for a deeper, more bitter decoction that's the authentic taste of traditional South Indian filter coffee houses.

More chicory, more character

At a 53:47 coffee-to-chicory ratio, this Malgudi blend produces a stronger, more intense decoction with a characteristic bitter edge that filter coffee lovers recognise instantly. Chicory deepens the colour, adds a woody bitterness, and extends the flavour on the palate — exactly what a good kaapi should do. Freshly roasted and ground at CCL's Hyderabad facility, Malgudi 53/47 is the choice for those who grew up drinking decoction coffee the proper way.

Great for making thick decoction to mix with full-fat milk, or for brewing cold filter coffee concentrate.

How to brew: Add 2–3 tablespoons to a South Indian metal filter. Pour hot water and allow 10–15 minutes to drip. Mix with hot milk in a 1:3 ratio. Serve in a traditional tumbler-davara for the full experience.

Indulge in the rich heritage of South Indian filter coffee with our authentic blends that pay homage to the traditional art of coffee making.

  • What is filter coffee?

Filter coffee is a South Indian specialty, a meticulous brewing process involving a two-part metal filter. A perfect blend of coffee and chicory is added to the upper portion, filled with hot water, and allowed to brew for 15 minutes. The result is a rich, aromatic decoction, a cultural emblem that transcends mere beverage status.
